LUCIANO FIANNACCA

GLAZED TERRACOTTA PANEL WITH GRAFFITI by LUCIANO FIANNACCA – cm. 58×116 – 2012

Back in 1971, Luciano Fiannacca with fellow-artists Torri and Contesogno planned a   screen-printing lab where they were joined by both old and new generation artists. In the 70’s he actively took part in multifarious initiatives, both on a local and national scale, thus widening his acquaintance with the European world of the arts. In 1978 he was awarded a scholarship and moved to England where he could admire the works of such masters as Turner and Rothko. In the 80’s and 90’s he collaborated with a number of art galleries and took part to numerous international art fairs across Europe. His style is a true iconographic code where colour patches replace the traditional image and become the utlimate ordering element. Fiannacca’s pictorial language proves winning also when dealing with ceramics. At Ceramiche San Giorgio ceramic workshop, the artist has found a fertile ground for his ever new experimentations. Fiannacca is the author of the façade of the Grand Hotel in Alassio, featuring huge black, red and white ‘taches’ over an azure background.
