FRANCESCO PREVERINO

GLAZED TERRACOTTA PANEL by FRANCESCO PREVERINO – cm. 160×200 – 2012

Francesco Preverino got his diploma at Turin’s High School of Arts in 1968 in the crucial years of social unrest which led to strikes and riots the world of art could not ignore. Artists sided with the workers’ movements and it was in this context that Preverino exhibited his early works, either in solo or group shows, where he met Albino Galvano and Aldo Passoni. In 1971 he started his teaching career and he presently holds the chair  of Decoration at the Academy of Beaux Arts in Turin. In the 80’s he experimented with  new techniques: collages, appliqués, monotypes and started a research on the potential of black colour. Since the 90’s he has enhanced his artistic activity and held several solo shows. His works are on display both in private and public collections, in Italy and abroad.
